On Saturday, October 24, some familiar Sarasota faces will trade their day jobs for dancing shoes.

Ballroom Blitz is Parkinson Place's inaugural signature fundraising gala, a Dancing-With-the-Stars-style evening that pairs local celebrity dancers with professional ballroom instructors. The couples compete for the mirrorball trophy, and the audience helps decide who takes it home. Every vote, ticket, and donation supports people and families in our community who are living with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders.

Why dance, and why Parkinson Place

Parkinson Place's mission is to provide resources, therapies, education, and support to individuals and families navigating Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. According to the organization, it offers more than 85 free in-person and virtual programs every month, including specialized movement classes.

Dance is a big part of that work. Parkinson Place describes dance as playing a vital role in improving mobility, balance, confidence, and joy for its members. That's what makes Ballroom Blitz such a fitting fundraiser: the night celebrates the same thing that helps so many of the people Parkinson Place serves. It's a party with a purpose, and the purpose is right here in our community.

Why Liberty Is Part Of It
