Between parades on Main Street, boats lit up on the bay and a 60-foot tree on St. Armands Circle, December is packed. Here’s your guide to the season, week by week. Most of it is free. Here’s what’s happening, sorted by day. Plans can change, so check with each organizer before you head out. ## All weekend Fall Festival & Carnival at University Town Center — Thursday, Oct. 29 through Sunday, Nov. 1, noon–11 p.m. Trunk-or-treating, food trucks, live music, fall photo spots and a pet costume contest, all free at UTC, according to [Sarasota Magazine’s Halloween guide](https://www.sarasotamagazine.com/news-and-profiles/2026/10/halloween-sarasota-2026). Lights at Spooky Point — nightly through Oct. 31, 6:30–9 p.m., Osprey Selby Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point campus becomes a glowing trail with botanical displays, games, food and drinks. Tickets required. Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Festival — Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Pick a pumpkin, meet the animals and catch a magic show on Fruitville Road. ## Friday, Oct. 30 BooFest on Lakewood Ranch Main Street — 6–9 p.m. Trick-or-treat past vendor booths, with a Kids’ Zone of face painting and inflatables. Trail of Treats, Anna Maria Island — 4–6:30 p.m. Costume judging at the AMI Chamber at 4:30 p.m., then trick-or-treating at participating island businesses. Free. Island Trunk or Treat at The Center of Anna Maria Island — 6–8 p.m. Free trunk-or-treating, with Palm Avenue closed to cars. De Soto’s Haunted Trail Walk — tours at 6, 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. A spooky walk along the historic Manatee River for $1 a ticket. Groups are capped at 15, so register early. ## Saturday, Oct. 31: Halloween Sarasota Dog-O-Ween — 9 a.m.–noon, Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market Dogs in costume take over the market, with a parade at 10 a.m. It’s free to watch and $15 to enter your pup in the contest. Halloween at the Manatee Habitat ReStore — 11 a.m.–2 p.m., Bradenton A free Halloween event at the [Habitat for Humanity ReStore](https://discoverbradenton.com/blogs/halloween-bradenton) on 15th Street East. Downtown Venice Art Festival — Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The [38th annual art festival](https://www.visitvenicefl.org/2026-annual-community-events/) fills West Venice Avenue all weekend. It’s a good way to get an early start on holiday gifts. Downtown Venice Halloween Strut — 2:30–4:30 p.m. A [costume parade](https://www.visitvenicefl.org/venice-mainstreet-events/) for all ages, with trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses. Bridge Street Halloween Spooktacular — 2–8 p.m., Bradenton Beach Free Halloween fun on Historic Bridge Street. Halloween at The Ringling — 4–7 p.m. Family trick-or-treating on the Loggia and a lantern labyrinth in the courtyard. Fright Night on St. Armands — 5:30–8 p.m. Decorated storefronts, costumed characters, games and trick-or-treating around the Circle. Free. Trick-or-Treat in the Village of the Arts — 6–8 p.m., Bradenton Walk the colorful cottages and studios of the Village of the Arts. Free. Bradenton Alive Halloween Celebration — 7–11 p.m., Old Main Street A grown-up Halloween night out in downtown Bradenton. ## Sunday, Nov. 1 Best of the Bay Music Fest — 1–7 p.m., The Bay Park, Sarasota An [afternoon of regional live music](https://www.visitsarasota.com/events-festivals/one-park-four-all-4th-anniversary-celebration) to cap off The Bay’s fourth anniversary celebration. Admission is free. Don’t forget: daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning. Set your clocks back an hour Saturday night, and enjoy the extra sleep after a long night of candy. ## Keep the candy budget in check The National Retail Federation expects shoppers to spend an [average of about $115 per person](https://nrf.com/research-insights/holiday-data-and-trends/halloween) on Halloween this year. Most of the events above are free, so a fun weekend doesn’t have to add much to that number. And with the holidays right around the corner, now is a good time to start a holiday budget.
