This year marks [America's 250th birthday](https://america250.org/), a historic milestone known nationally as the Semiquincentennial. Communities across Sarasota and Manatee counties are planning special celebrations, patriotic events, fireworks displays, and family-friendly activities to commemorate 250 years of American history. Here's your guide to some of the biggest July 4th events happening in Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, and Lakewood Ranch. ## **Venice Combines Its Centennial Celebration with America's 250th Birthday** If you're looking for the area's most historically significant celebration, Venice may be the place to be. The City of Venice is celebrating both its Centennial and America's 250th anniversary with a full day of patriotic festivities. The celebration includes a special daytime parade through historic downtown Venice, a community picnic, and an evening fireworks show. The [parade begins at 9:30 a.m.](https://www.facebook.com/CityofVeniceFlorida/posts/-the-city-of-venice-is-extending-the-application-deadline-for-the-special-july-4/1284427717184451/) and travels through downtown before concluding near Blalock Park. Community activities continue throughout the day, followed by fireworks over the Venice waterfront in the evening. ### **Why You'll Love It** - Historic downtown atmosphere - Family-friendly parade - Community picnic and activities - Fireworks celebrating both Venice's 100th birthday and America's 250th anniversary For residents who appreciate local history and community traditions, this is one of the most unique celebrations on the Suncoast. ## **Lakewood Ranch's Star-Spangled Spectacular** Lakewood Ranch continues its tradition of hosting one of the region's most family-focused Independence Day celebrations. [The Star-Spangled Spectacular at Waterside Place](https://lakewoodranch.com/event/star-spangled-spectacular-at-waterside-place/) runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features circus performances, carnival games, children's activities, food vendors, live entertainment, and a drone show finale. Rather than a traditional fireworks display, the event concludes with a choreographed drone show over Waterside Place. ### **Highlights** - Circus Arts Conservatory performances - Interactive family activities - Local food vendors - Waterfront atmosphere - Drone show at 9 p.m. This event is particularly popular with families looking for an exciting but relaxed community celebration. ## **Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks** One of the Suncoast's most iconic traditions returns in 2026 with a special America 250 theme. [The Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks](https://www.mustdo.com/events/sarasota-bay-fireworks/) celebration will once again light up the skies over Sarasota Bay. Visitors can watch from Bayfront Park, Island Park, downtown Sarasota, and surrounding waterfront locations. Fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. and provide spectacular views along the bayfront. ### **Best Viewing Areas** - Bayfront Park - Island Park - Downtown Sarasota waterfront - Ringling Bridge area - Marina district Arrive early if you plan to attend, as this is typically one of the most heavily attended July 4th events in the region. ## **Celebrate on Siesta Key** For many locals and visitors, there's nothing quite like watching fireworks over one of America's most famous beaches. [The Siesta Key Community Fireworks celebration](https://www.siestakeychamber.com/fireworks/) returns for its 35th year on July 4, 2026. Fireworks will launch from Siesta Beach at dusk, creating a spectacular display over the Gulf of Mexico. Viewing is available from Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach, nearby waterways, and many waterfront locations throughout the island. ### **What Makes It Special** - Gulf-front fireworks - Beautiful sunset views before the show - Family-friendly beach atmosphere - One of the region's longest-running Independence Day traditions Many families spend the entire day at the beach before settling in for the evening fireworks display. ## **Bradenton and the Greater Manatee County Area** While fireworks and celebrations can be found throughout Manatee County, the broader Bradenton area traditionally offers numerous patriotic events ranging from waterfront celebrations to family festivals. The area's beaches, parks, and public gathering spaces make excellent places to spend Independence Day with family and friends. Visitors can also expect a variety of local celebrations throughout the county as communities recognize America's 250th anniversary year. In addition, America250-themed exhibits and educational programs have already begun appearing throughout the region, including special exhibits at local libraries and community venues. ## **Tips for Enjoying July 4th Celebrations on the Suncoast** ### **Arrive Early** Many of the region's most popular celebrations attract thousands of attendees. Parking lots often fill hours before fireworks begin. ### **Stay Hydrated** July in Florida can be hot and humid. Bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate sun protection if you're attending daytime events. ### **Expect Traffic** Road closures, heavy traffic, and limited parking are common around major celebrations, particularly in downtown Sarasota, Venice, and Siesta Key. ### **Bring a Chair or Blanket** Most public viewing areas are first-come, first-served. Bringing seating can make your experience much more comfortable. ## **Celebrating a Historic Milestone** America's 250th birthday is a once-in-a-generation event. Whether you choose to attend Venice's historic parade, enjoy family fun in Lakewood Ranch, watch fireworks over Sarasota Bay, or celebrate from the sands of Siesta Key, Florida's Suncoast offers plenty of ways to be part of this historic occasion. As communities across the country commemorate 250 years of American history, Sarasota and Manatee counties are providing residents and visitors with memorable opportunities to celebrate freedom, community, and the spirit of Independence Day. No matter where you choose to spend July 4, 2026, you're participating in a celebration that only comes around once every 250 years.
